MISSION STATEMENT
CASA (Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda) is a community-wide coalition that will raise awareness, mobilize community action,and facilitate implementation of programs to achieve the goal of Alameda's Local Action Plan for Climate Protection (to reduce Alameda's carbon emissions to 25% below 2005 levels by the year 2020) and to increase community sustainability and well-being.
VISION STATEMENT
By 2020 the City of Alameda will be a community whose actions are based on the principles of sustainability and carbon neutrality. We will have met, or exceeded, our community's goal of reducing carbon emissions to 25 % below 2005 levels. We will continue to challenge ourselves to conform to or surpass emissions goals and standards established internationally, nationally, and by the State of California.
Using less energy and resources, we will progressively become a more environmentally conscious, resilient, abundant, and sustainable community achieving for now and for future generations the highest feasible standards for the well-being of Alameda's residents, its bioregion, and the Earth as a whole.

Hello CASA members-
I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post this, but we at Alameda Natural Grocery would like to extend an invite to CASA and all related groups to take part in our Earth Day celebration. We are doing ours on Saturday, April 18th and it will be going on throughout the entire day. While not being so much an "event" we will have raffles for gift baskets containing green household products, Patricia's Pantry will be giving away CFL light bulbs with qualifying purchases, and other vendors have been asked to offer special Earth Day related promotions. What I am hoping, and have been talking to Olga about, is offering up space to CASA and any other interested groups to have an opportunity and venue to promote the work you are doing. We get several hundred customers on a typical Saturday, so it would be a fantastic opportunity to get out in front of more people who have an interest in sustainability and living green. I will continue to work with Olga, but also would love to hear from anyone who may have suggestions, interest or would like more information.
