CASA

"Why?" they said!   Pelicans, sanderlings, plants, beach, pigeons, gobwits, SF Bay, views, people, dogs to name a few.  That is why we walked along the bay from Crab Cove Visitor Center to the Elsie Roemer Bird Sanctuary on Saturday, Dec. 6, the 4th Annual Global Day of Climate Action.  We walked to become more aware of the bay-utiful birds, sand, water, humans and animals that will be gone if we do nothing.

The "Breath of Fresh Air" Walk first came about in response to CASA's formation of a Community Outreach and Education Committee.  In order to "outreach" we needed to invite the people of Alameda to something.  In order to "educate" we needed a topic to focus on like the issue of "why?" we are worried about CO2 emissions in Alameda in the first place!  So Theresa Elander and I, representing CASA, organized the Walk.

It was an awesome day weather wise on Dec. 6 at 10am along our Robert Crown Memorial Beach.  Sunny, with little breeze, kept our group of walkers focused on our Bay community of sea, plants, animals and humans.  We walked along the asphalt path on the way to the Bird Sanctuary and returned via the beach along the bay while searching for shells and various gem stones.  Beauty was had by all.
